CHARLES SCHWAB. BEAUTIFUL SUNSET TONIGHT. METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S DIGITAL EXPRESS IS DESIGNED TO EXPAND ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY IN NORTH OMAHA. BUT INSIDE THAT SPACE IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND REPAIR AND TRAINING PROGRAM THAT’S HELPING FIX DEVICES AND BUILD A WORKFORCE. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S CONOR SCHMIDT DEMONSTRATES HOW REBOOT CENTRAL IS MAKING IT HAPPEN. DIGITAL EXPRESS FIRST OPENED ITS DOORS IN DECEMBER OF 2022, TRANSFORMING THE FIRST FLOOR OF MCC’S FORT OMAHA CAMPUS INTO A TECHNOLOGY HUB FOR THE NORTH OMAHA COMMUNITY. THIS WAS THE RESULT OF AN ANONYMOUS DONOR. ONE OF THE STIPULATIONS THE DONOR MADE WAS THAT THE SPACE HAD TO BE OFFERED TO THE COMMUNITY AT NO CHARGE. JUST BEYOND THE CLASSROOMS AND CREATIVE ZONE SITS REBOOT CENTRAL, A FULL SERVICE DEVICE REPAIR SHOP SPONSORED BY IFIX OMAHA. SO IF YOU HAVE A CRACKED CELL PHONE SCREEN, A PROBLEM WITH A TABLET OR A LAPTOP, YOU ONLY PAY FOR THE PARTS. NO LABOR CHARGE. THAT NO LABOR COST MODEL IS WHAT MAKES THIS LOCATION UNIQUE. HERE AT REBOOT CENTRAL, WE PERFORM ALL OF THOSE KINDS OF REPAIRS. WHETHER IT TAKES 30 MINUTES OR 5 HOURS, AND YOU DON’T PAY A DIME FOR ANY OF THE LABOR. JASON DECATUR IS THE FOUNDER AND CEO OF FIX OMAHA. HE STARTED THE COMPANY IN HIS BASEMENT IN 2011, WHICH BEGAN AS A NEIGHBORHOOD FIX-IT SHOP HAS GROWN INTO MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, BUT REBOOT CENTRAL GOES A STEP FURTHER. WE’VE TRAINED OVER 100 TECHNICIANS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS RIGHT HERE AT MCC THROUGH A FIRST OF ITS KIND TRAINING ACADEMY, STUDENTS CAN EARN INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATIONS, INTERN ON SITE AND GAIN REAL WORLD BUSINESS EXPERIENCE. DECATUR SAYS THE GOAL WAS TO SOLVE WORKFORCE SHORTAGE IN HIGH TECH REPAIR. MCC IS A GOOD FIVE YEARS AHEAD OF THE CURVE. IF YOU LOOK ACROSS THE LANDSCAPE OF THE UNITED STATES FOR MCC AND FIX OMAHA, REBOOT CENTRAL ISN’T JUST ABOUT FIXING
