Multiple cities have declared snow emergencies for a forecasted winter storm that’s expected to bring heavy snow to parts of Nebraska and Iowa.The City of Omaha has a map showing efforts to plow streets. Find that real-time information by clicking here.The city of Council Bluffs’ snow emergency will go into effect at 7 p.m. on Thursday and will run through 7 p.m. on Friday.This means there will be no parking allowed on streets that have been declared as emergency snow routes. These routes are posted with a blue “Emergency Snow Route” sign.Those who park in the routes during a snow emergency are subject to a fine and/or towing.Click here to see the map of the routes affected.The City of Yutan has also declared a snow emergency, which will run from 10 a.m. on Thursday through 10 a.m. on Friday.No parking will be allowed on city streets during this time, and drivers may be ticketed or have their vehicles towed.Residents are also expected to clear a three-foot radius around any fire hydrants to help the fire department in case of emergency.The City of Blair has also issued a snow emergency. It will run from noon Thursday to 6 p.m. on Friday, or until the streets are plowed.On-street parking is prohibited until the snow has been cleared and snow has ceased or the snow emergency expires.The City of Ralston’s snow emergency will go into effect at 3 p.m. on Thursday, and it will run through 8 a.m. on Friday.Vehicles are prohibited from parking on any street within the city.Snow emergency parking will be available in at Hillcrest Landing at 75th and Main streets.The City of Underwood’s snow emergency will run from 2 p.m. on Thursday through 10 p.m. on Friday.Vehicles will need to be removed from city streets.The village of Arlington declared a snow emergency starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday and lasting until 10 a.m. on Friday.A snow emergency is in effect for Carter Lake from 4 p.m. Thursday until 4 p.m. Friday.Residents are asked to move vehicles from city streets. There is parking available on the north side of City Hall and at the Community Center.Treynor, Iowa, also announced a snow emergency.
