This site has been problematic for many years, and a settlement for its demolition is in the city’s best interest. Mayor (John) Ewing and Councilman (Don) Rowe have advocated for demolishing this hotel due to many concerns, and this settlement discussion is a move in the right direction. California-based Newport Blue Impact alleged the city broke a deal not to demolish the hotel when it took over the property in 2025, which the city denied.
