1 in 30 million catch: Woman catches yellow lobster off New Hampshire coast
MANCHESTER, N.H. —
A lobsterwoman from Hampton, New Hampshire, caught a rare yellow lobster last week.
There is about a 1 in 30 million chance of catching a lobster with this type of genetic mutation.

The female lobster was caught right off the coast of Rye and weighed about 1 1/2 pounds.
Lobsterwoman Nicole Feldotto says she feels lucky to catch such a rare lobster so early in her career.
“I’ve caught two rare lobsters in my career, and I’m 32. And I caught an orange lobster four years ago, and I thought that was just going to be my, kind of, one big moment, and then I just caught a yellow one,” said Feldotto. “And when it came up, I literally screamed. I was like, ‘Oh my God.'”
The lobster has a V-notch, which means it is an egg-bearing female lobster, so the crew let her go back into the ocean to preserve the lobster population.
