The 14th annual Bereaved Mother’s Day Luncheon in Omaha united mothers, families, and advocates to honor lives lost to violence and promote peace. The event was hosted by the “No Murders in May” initiative, which seeks to ensure May is a homicide-free month in Omaha. Organizers highlighted the importance of finding comfort in shared experiences. “A lot of times when you talk to people, you can say that I understand that they really don’t know people in here today. They understand. So it’s a place where everybody can get together, fellowship together, cry together, whatever. It’s whatever they need to go by. It’s okay.
