OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) – The annual Memorial Park Concert and Firework Show was held on Friday in Dundee. It’s a free concert that first began in 1987. The 2026 edition features performances by the band CAKE and Motown legend Smokey Robinson.
3 News Now’s Dundee Neighborhood Reporter Jeremy Fredricks spoke with neighbors – from just down the street in Dundee, across Omaha and even from Iowa – who attended the celebration:
- “It’s pretty exciting. All the different humanities. Everybody’s getting together peacefully, to enjoy some music,” Lois Pleiss, a Modale, Iowa neighbor, said
- “It’s free. I enjoy having my friends come down. We have a pre party at the house. We walk down,” Belinda Kepler, a Dundee neighbor, said
- “I’m here, my daughter lives right across the street, so I got good parking. I’m here for one of the greatest shows that Omaha ever does all the time, for all the friends, family, and just people of Omaha. You can’t beat it,” Frank DeLoa Jr., a Millard neighbor, said
- “I saw Smokey was headlining, so I wanted to come check him out. I haven’t seen him in years,” Pamela Montgomery, a Deerwood neighbor, said
- “And I’ve been coming here for many, many years with Pamela, and we’ve kind of quit for a while, but then we decided, hey, let’s go tonight to have some fun. So to see Smokey Robinson, so that’s why we’re here,” Stephanie Rosenber, a Bent Creek neighbor, said
- “There’s no money involved. It’s for the people of Omaha. Come down, have a good time. I mean, can’t beat it, you know?” Edward Zuehlke, a Field Club neighbor, said
- “Smokey Robinson, when he sings ‘The Tears of a Clown.’ I know I’m gonna cry. I used to be a clown,” Scuba Steve, a Dundee neighbor, said
- “It’s a fun night. They have beautiful fireworks,” Sharon Collins, a Council Bluffs neighbor, said
- “I’ve been coming for 20 years to this one, you know? And so, they usually get pretty good music here,” Rob Babel, a West Omaha neighbor, said
