50 US cities with highest rates of bed bugs include popular vacation spots

A new report lists the top 50 cities in the United States with the highest rate of bed bug infestations — and many of them are popular vacation destinations.
The report, released by Orkin, lists Chicago (1) as the nation’s city with the highest number of bed bugs, followed by Los Angeles (2), Detroit (3), Cleveland (4) and Indianapolis (5).

Popular vacation destinations, including New York (12), Nashville (34), Las Vegas (43), Tampa (46), Miami (47) and Myrtle Beach (50) also appear on the list.
Ohio has the most cities on this year’s list: Cleveland (4), Columbus (8), Cincinnati (15), Youngstown (32), Dayton (38) and Toledo (42).
The company urges travelers to check hotel mattresses and nearby furniture before unpacking. It is also recommended to keep luggage off beds and drying clothing on high heat after returning home.
