Now, police say they plan to file charges against the adults who were there watching as the fight erupted.”There will be charges for the adults who stood by during this fight yesterday,” Winston-Salem Police Chief William Penn, Jr. said. “We’re sending the message that if you stand by and encourage or aid our juveniles in delinquent behavior, we will not tolerate it in our community.” Police said a fight started between a group of teenagers at Leinbach Park in Winston-Salem, which escalated to a shooting.According to police, 16-year-old Daniel Jimenez Millian and 17-year-old Erubey Romero Medina were killed in the shooting. Five others were shot and injured.Officials said Joel Michael Gamble-Toliver, 18, has been charged with felony child abuse. Officers said this charge applies when a parent or any other person providing care to or supervision of a child less than 16 years of age, whose willful act or grossly negligent omission in the care of the child shows a reckless disregard of human life and results in serious bodily injury to a child under the age of 16.Officials said Gamble-Toliver went to the park knowing that a fight would occur. During the ordeal, he was in a fight with a juvenile male.Detectives said they also determined that Gamble-Toliver fired a gun during the incident. He was also one of the people who was injured in the shooting.
