‘Kindness of humanity’: Boston man recalls quarantine at UNMC
A Boston-based content creator is sharing his experience after being stranded at sea during the hantavirus outbreak, before being taken to Nebraska for quarantine.

A Boston-based content creator is sharing his experience after being stranded at sea during the hantavirus outbreak, before being taken to Nebraska for quarantine.
The outbreak happened back in April on a Dutch cruise ship. Jake Rosmarian, along with dozens of other passengers, was stuck on board before they were brought to Omaha’s National Quarantine Center at UNMC in May. Rosmarian spent 42 days in quarantine.

Despite the uncertainty and isolation, he said the compassion shown by staff and the Omaha community gave him hope.
“The NKU staff was just unbelievable. And the people of Nebraska and Omaha also,” Rosmarian said. “The kindness that I was shown, it really just brought out the kindness of humanity.”
Rosmarian has since returned home to Boston. Regardless of what he went through, he said he is not afraid to explore the world again.
