The series will be filmed in Los Angeles in 2027 and show Cher’s life as “a successful businesswoman who has mastered motherhood,” a Paramount news release says.
“But now, with her own daughter entering her high school years, Cher finds that parenting a teen makes her feel, ahem, clueless all over again,” the release says.
Amy Heckerling, the original writer and director of 1995’s “Clueless,” is returning as an executive producer, along with Robert Lawrence, who produced the original film.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will write the series. The pair is known for their work on shows like “The OC” and “Gossip Girl.”
A premiere date has not been announced and it’s unclear whether more cast members from the original film will appear in the series.
Last year, “Clueless” celebrated its 30th reunion with a cast reunion and screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The film was also added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress last year.
