Associated Bank set to take over American National Bank operations this fall

OMAHA, Neb. —

By the end of 2026, American National Bank will no longer be headquartered in Omaha and Associated Bank will take the reins. It was announced that the two companies would merge in December 2025.

All branches of American National Bank in Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota will become Associated Bank. Clients can continue attending the same branch and working with the same people. As the transition progresses, continue to use the same accounts and cards.

Associated Bank asked clients to update contact information so you can continue to get new details as the companies merge. You can change those details online, in the app or at any local branch. The company told KETV NewsWatch 7 that they will share information about cards, accounts and loans in the coming days.

Those updates may come under a new name. Until the transition is finalized, communications will say “American National Bank, a division of Associated Bank, National Association.”

All ATMs will continue to function the same. If you have FDIC insurance at both banks, you’ll be covered on deposits up to the amount in your accounts as of April 1, 2026, but those accounts will be separate until at least October. Separate coverage does not apply to increases in balance after April 1, 2026.

The transition will not be finalized until Oct. 13, 2026, when all accounts will officially move to Associated Bank. You can still use the customer service resources currently available until Oct. 12.

Associated Bank also told Omaha’s News Leader that the Salvation Army’s Christmas Tree for the Tree of Lights campaign will still light up 90th and Dodge this year.
