Douglas County deputies are investigating two deaths they believe may be a result of mixing Ayurvedic products into tea. Investigators said the 56- and 65-year-olds mixed the products, which can be bought at local retailers over the counter. They contacted poison control, who advised that mixing two certain products could create a toxic blend. It’s unclear what those products are. The FDA defines Ayurvedic medicine as a traditional system of healing arts originating in India. It can include spices, herbs, vitamins, proteins and minerals as well as some heavy metals like lead.
