A Bellevue food pantry preparing to expand its services is now dealing with repeated vandalism at its future location.Staff with the Bellevue Food Pantry say the building has been broken into twice in just the past couple of weeks, leaving behind broken windows, torn insulation, and a mess inside the facility.Leaders discovered the damage Tuesday morning when they arrived to continue work on the site. Deputy Director Jill Connor says someone forced their way into the building, damaging parts of the interior, including drywall and the kitchen area. The second incident comes just days after the first, when staff had already boarded up a broken window from the initial break-in. Despite the disruption, Connor says nothing appears to have been stolen. The timing is especially frustrating for the organization, which is just weeks away from beginning construction on a new space designed to serve more people in the community. Connor described the situation as disheartening, particularly given the pantry’s mission to help families in need.Still, she says support from the community and a quick response from Bellevue Police have helped ease some concerns.Anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to contact Bellevue Police at 402-293-3100.
