According to court documents, in April 2023, first responders received a 911 call from Camp that his son, Elijah Williams, wasn’t breathing at an apartment in Bellevue.
The 2-month-old was taken to the hospital with a pulse but not breathing on his own.
KETV Spoke with Elijah’s mother Caitlin Novak, and grandmother Shelley Comstock. They say it was hard to accept a plea deal, and believe that Camp should’ve faced the possibility of a life sentence.
“You can do whatever you want and get a slap on the wrist. You can take a life and get 12 years.,” said Novak, speaking on the possibilty of Camp getting probation.
Scans performed at the hospital revealed Elijah had fractures on both sides of his skull with swelling and blood spots on his brain.
The doctor said his injuries were consistent with being slammed down, shaken or having been in a car crash.
Doctors reportedly also found healing fractures on the child’s ribs.
After interviews with detectives, Camp admitted that when watching Elijah, he aggressively put the infant on the ground and left him there crying. He claimed that when he returned, Elijah was almost silent and no longer breathing.
Camp previously took a plea deal in April.
