The incident happened on July 14 in the area of 179th Street and Island Circle.

Douglas County deputies said three juveniles were heading north on electric scooters when one of them entered the road.

The juvenile, identified by Bennington Public Schools as Logan Rahn, was hit by a pickup truck.

He was taken to the hospital, and he died days later from his injuries.

The school district released a statement, saying there will be counselors and staff available to students and staff who may need support as they navigate this tragedy.

“Bennington Public Schools is deeply saddened by the passing of Bennington Elementary student, Logan Rahn, who passed away on Saturday from injuries sustained in an accident involving a vehicle while riding his scooter last week. Earlier today, Logan gave the gift of life through organ donation. Our hearts are with Logan’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all those who knew and loved him. This is a heartbreaking loss for our entire school community.”
