BigXThaPlug arrested in Texas less than 24 hours before Iowa State Fair concert, but officials say he will still perform

The headliner for the Iowa State Fair Grandstand show Saturday has been arrested in Texas, but fair officials say they have been told he will make it for the show.

BigXThaPlug, the stage name of Xavier Landum, is facing driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession and illegal firearm possession charges. Landum was booked into Collin County Jail Friday night. Landum was jailed on drug and weapons charges in 2022 and 2025.
This arrest came less than 24 hours before the hip-hop and rap artist is set to headline the Iowa State Fair Grandstand with special guest XOLEX.
KCCI did reach out to the Iowa State Fair late Friday night regarding whether the show would be impacted by Landum’s arrest. Fair officials sent a statement saying, “We are aware of reports regarding BigXthaPlug. We are in communication with his agent and at this time, we have been told he will still be performing.”
Around noon Saturday, the rapper posted a short video on his Instagram story saying, “Des Moines, Iowa, I’m on my way.”
Last week, Rod Stewart was set to play on the first Friday of the fair but bowed out two days before for medical reasons. The Iowa State Fair refunded people who bought tickets for Stewart’s show. John Waite was booked in Stewart’s place, and the show was free for fairgoers.
