Blair City Council does not pass development project near YMCA
BLAIR, Neb. —
The Blair City Council did not pass an application for a development project.
The project is aimed at building over 150 apartment units and three commercial lots on vacant land just south of the YMCA in Blair.

The issue has been a hot topic in town, and many community members showed up at Tuesday’s meeting to voice their opinion.
“Redirecting new tax revenues away from the schools for an extended period of time, and undermine one of Blair’s greatest strengths. We respectfully ask the City Council to consider both the immediate and long-term impacts this proposal may have on our school, taxpayers and community services,” said Don Johnson, superintendent of Blair Community Schools.
“We believe this project is a thoughtful and well-planned response to Blair’s housing needs. And it will make a meaningful contribution to community. All developers understand that if you don’t have these incentives, it’s not going to happen,” said resident Craig Aman.
The city council also discussed TIF funding for the project.
That issue didn’t get the support needed to advance.
