Christina Applegate back home after nearly four-month hospital stay

Emmy-winning actress Christina Applegate has been released from the hospital after a nearly four-month stay.

The 54-year-old actress, who has been battling multiple sclerosis since 2021, is back home and doing well, according to multiple reports.

It remains unclear whether Applegate was hospitalized because of the autoimmune disease.

Applegate has been very open about her MS diagnosis, which affects the central nervous system and can be disabling by causing the immune system to attack healthy cells.

“It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition,” Applegate said of her diagnosis in 2021. “It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going.”

While there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, many people are able to manage their symptoms and adapt to new lifestyles after diagnosis.

In April, upon the initial news of her hospitalization, Applegate released a statement on Instagram thanking fans for the outpouring of love and well wishes.

“Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day,” she wrote. “I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”

Applegate is an Emmy-winning actress best known for her breakout role as Kelly Bundy on the long-running sitcom “Married… with Children.” She later starred in the hit comedy “Samantha Who?” and the Netflix series “Dead to Me,” earning multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations throughout her career.

She also appeared in films such as “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead,” “The Sweetest Thing,” “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” and “Vacation.”
