College baseball player fatally shot by police after knocking on wrong door, family says

UPPER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Authorities in Pennsylvania are investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man by police after he mistakenly knocked on the door of the wrong house over the weekend.

The victim, Glenn Pysher, had been out at a bar with friends on Saturday night. According to his mother, Erin Pysher, Glenn decided to walk to a friend’s house when the celebration moved to another location.

“And ended up at the wrong house,” Erin Pysher said. “After having a few drinks, he didn’t know that, and so he was knocking on the back door saying, ‘Hey, let me in,’ thinking it was his friend’s house. But it wasn’t.”

Glenn approached the home shortly after midnight. The couple inside, startled by the knocking, called 911 at 12:32 a.m.

“At 12:32 he was on his phone with his friends. By 12:35, I believe he was already shot. So within a few minutes, the cops showed up and shot him. He was unarmed. He had a cellphone and a book bag,” Erin said.

Surveillance cameras in the backyard of the property reportedly captured the deadly encounter, and the recording is being used as part of the investigation. WPVI in Philadelphia was told that the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is handling the case.

Family and baseball

Glenn’s parents described him as a “lovable goofball” who had two great loves: his family and baseball.

Glenn had recently transferred to St. Elizabeth University in New Jersey, where he was preparing to play baseball.

“He’ll walk in the back door and yell his favorite saying: ‘Mom, your favorite kid is home,'” Erin said. “He was just happy-go-lucky, no care in the world, and I’m going to miss that.”
