Comic Con Nebraska returns to Omaha for second year

OMAHA, Neb. —

Comic Con Nebraska returned to the CHI Health Center Omaha this weekend for its second year, bringing comic book creators, voice actors, artists and pop culture fans together for a family-friendly convention.

The two-day event featured original artwork, comics, collectibles and pop culture merchandise, along with cosplay and interactive panels.

Organizers said they made several upgrades for this year’s convention after listening to feedback from people who attended the inaugural event.

One of the biggest requests was the chance to meet more voice actors.

“We heard through the survey last year that people were interested in meeting voice actors,” said Ron Brister, an organizer. “So, just after the show last year, we worked on reaching out and speaking to some of the agents we know, and we landed the ‘Dragon Ball Z’ main voice.”

Christopher Sabat, known for voicing Vegeta in “Dragon Ball Z,” Roronoa Zoro in “One Piece” and All Might in “My Hero Academia,” headlined this year’s voice actor lineup.

The convention also features several comic book creators and animation professionals. Guests include “The Beauty” creators Jeremy Haun and Jason Hurley, Image Comics co-founder Whilce Portacio, animator and director Kevin Mellon and writer Christopher Priest.

Beyond meeting featured guests, attendees explored Artist Alley and the exhibitor hall, where regional and national artists are showcasing original artwork, handcrafted goods, comics and collectibles.

Organizers say their goal is to build on the convention each year while creating a welcoming event that connects fans, creators and the Omaha community.
