The Community Project hosts Connected Americans event on Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge

OMAHA, Neb. —

The Community Project hosted a gathering Friday at the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge as part of a nationwide event called Connected Americans.

“I think just politically, we are being divided every single day. And this is the reason why we want to celebrate how we came together. You know, immigration isn’t something that just happened yesterday. It has happened for over 250 years. The United States has been the United States,” Maria Torres, CEO and founder of The Community Project, said.

Officials said they wanted to encourage family unity and community togetherness in the wake of changing immigration laws.
