Conservation Nebraska holds tour of Papillion Creek’s water resource recovery facility

Bellevue, Nebraska —

Conservation Nebraska hosted a tour of the Papillion Creek Water Resource Recovery Facility on Friday.

The goal was to provide an overview of the facility and highlight water conservation efforts.

Conservationists want to remind you that everything you flush down any drain in your house, whether it is a sink or toilet, goes into the sewer system.

With taxpayer dollars, this facility treats tons of that water before putting it back into the river.

They said it’s important to conserve water.

“Conservation is really important, especially with water, because it’s a limited resource. There’s only a limited amount of clean drinking water, and just fresh water in general. So, it’s really important to be up to date on conservation,” Samantha Gentry, conservation director, said.

Conservation Nebraska said its mission is to protect the state’s natural legacy by educating the public, supporting communities, and increasing civic engagement.
