Police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a store employee with a skateboard during a theft attempt at Westroads Mall in Omaha in June.

OMAHA, Neb. —

Omaha police are looking for a man accused of trying to steal a skateboard and assaulting a store employee at Westroads Mall in early June.

Surveillance footage from inside the mall shows the suspect, wearing a white shirt, exiting Zumiez. Employees told police the man was acting belligerent and stumbling before attempting to steal a skateboard. They said he “bodied” a worker and hit her with the board while trying to flee.

The suspect eventually got away – without the skateboard – but Omaha buses captured extensive surveillance footage of him. Video shows him boarding a bus, sitting inside, and chatting.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7, with spiky hair featuring purple tips, a gold watch, and bright yellow shoes.
