Crime Stoppers: Video captures gun battle in north Omaha

According to Omaha Police, at least 34 shots were fired and one person was shot in the stomach.

OMAHA, Neb. —

The Omaha Police Officer’s Association has long talked about issues outside Los Diablos Motorcycle Club near 25th and Ames.

Now, we’re getting a look at a gun battle just outside of the club from May 24. According to police, one victim was shot in the stomach and survived, but isn’t cooperating with the investigation.

In the video, which takes place around 4 a.m., you can see the suspect and victim get into some sort of confrontation. The two separate and the victim is seen hiding behind a pole, but he gradually goes out into the street. About 55 seconds after that initial confrontation, the suspect fires the first shot, appearing to hit the victim.

The victim then takes cover behind a truck where one of his associates returns fire. Seconds later, the suspect fires back, and eventually so does one of his acquaintances.

About 35 seconds after the initial gunfire, a fourth gunman shoots toward the original suspect.

According to the police report, the 29-year-old victim self-transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Omaha Police arrived within four minutes of the gunfire and found 34 shell casings at the scene.

No witnesses have come forward.

KETV followed the shooting in May and spoke to the Omaha Police Officers Association after it happened.

“It takes our cars out of service and doesn’t allow other people who need our services that ability,” said Patrick Dempsey, president of the Omaha Police Officer’s Association, at the time. “So, whoever is allowing those people to congregate on that property should be held responsible.”
