Cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to shredded iceberg lettuce expands to Nebraska and Iowa
OMAHA, Neb. —
The cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce has expanded to several more states, including Nebraska and Iowa, health officials said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control’s website, on July 16, Taylor Farms recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico.

The CDC and the FDA began investigating the multistate outbreak of Cyclospora infections, and according to the CDC’s website, there are over 10,000 laboratory-confirmed cases in the United States with over 500 hospitalizations and two deaths. The website also said 47 states have reported cases.

On Wednesday, the NYT reported cases in Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, Missouri, New Hampshire and North Carolina have been linked to the Taylor Farms recall. So, in total, 15 states have now been linked to the iceberg lettuce Cyclospora outbreak.
As of Tuesday, the Douglas County Health Department reported there are 71 cases of cyclosporiasis in the county, which was up from 45 from the week prior.
