ELECTION DAY. THAT’S JUNE 2ND. TODAY IS NATIONAL PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY. THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HELD A CEREMONY HONORING LAW ENFORCEMENT WHO HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. I WAS HONORED TO BE A GUEST SPEAKER AT TODAY’S EVENT AND SHARE OUR GRATITUDE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. OMAHA MAYOR JOHN EWING, JUNIOR, OMAHA POLICE CHIEF TODD SCHMADERER AND DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF AARON HANSEN WERE IN ATTENDANCE. SHERIFF HANSEN SAYS PEACE COMES WITH A PRICE. IT IS CRUCIAL THAT WE REMEMBER OUR OBLIGATION TO ONE ANOTHER, BECAUSE ULTIMATELY, THAT IS HOW WE WILL HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE SACRIFICE OF ENSURING THAT WE ALL CAN ENJOY OUR FREE AND SAFE SOCIETY. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office honors law enforcement injured or killed in the line of duty
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office hosted a ceremony on National Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor law enforcement officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. Omaha Mayor John Ewing, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer, and Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson attended the event. Sheriff Hanson emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by law enforcement. “It is crucial that we remember our obligation to one another, because ultimately that is how we will honor those who have laid down their lives in the sacrifice of ensuring that we all can enjoy our free and safe society,” Hanson said.
