Douglas County Board delays budget vote
OMAHA, Neb. —
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners delayed its vote on the budget until next week.
This came after concerns that the general public doesn’t have enough time to read it or give it feedback.

KETV spoke to Douglas County Commissioner Roger Garcia about it.
He said that the budget creation process is done in public at meetings.
“We’ve been talking about the budget since late May and early June. We started to have individual hearings for departments that have come in over target, but there’s actually more to come in September when we actually approve the tax levy to finalize the whole budget process,” Garcia said.
The public will now have a second chance to share their thoughts at next week’s meeting before the commissioner’s final vote.
