Douglas County recognizes August as Breastfeeding Awareness Month
OMAHA, Neb. —
The Douglas County Health Department and the city of Omaha recognize August as Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
“Pumping at work is a right, not a perk. We are calling on every business and employer across Douglas County to not only comply with the Pump Act, but to foster workplace environments where working parents are empowered to thrive,” Dr. Lindsay Huse, Douglas County Health Department Director, said.

The Federal Pump Act was signed in 2010.
It requires employers to give employees reasonable breaks and a private space that’s not a restroom to pump for up to one year after giving birth.
