As a result, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office held a training on Tuesday with investigators from eleven different agencies.

They say over the last two years, they’ve become known as a regional expert in investigating and solving complex financial crimes.

This includes specializing in cases that are typically overlooked by law enforcement because they involve suspects who are not physically present.

These cases don’t usually have video evidence and require following a digital trail.

“We’ve developed systems for different types of fraud that frequently allow us to identify suspects. And we are trying to share those methods that we’ve found to work best with our peers within the Nebraska law enforcement community. This is done so that we can all work together to fight the epidemic of fraud that’s impacting the citizens of Nebraska, including the vulnerable and elderly,” said Deputy Michael Dechellis.

Investigators said Nebraska bitcoin ATM fraud losses have fallen more than 80% due to recent regulations.
