Officials say three juveniles were traveling north on 179th Street on electric scooters, one of which entered the intersection. That juvenile was hit by a pickup truck driving west.
DCSO said nearby residents performed lifesaving measures on the boy, who was taken to Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed on scene and cooperated with deputies, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Neither alcohol, drugs, nor speed are suspected as factors.
The intersection of 179th Street and Island Circle has since reopened.
