A 25-year-old man will be booked on a felony DUI charge after a crash Saturday left an Omaha police officer with five broken ribs, according to the Omaha Police Department.The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. near Interstate 80 and 13th Street.According to the OPD, an officer was blocking a lane of eastbound traffic with his cruiser for a hazard in the road. The OPD said that the officer had all of the cruiser’s appropriate overhead lights activated.That is when it says a car driven by a 25-year-old man rear-ended the cruiser. That driver has not been identified.According to their preliminary investigation, Omaha police said the car showed no obvious signs of attempting to brake before the collision.The officer was taken to the hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries.
