Drone video from the Oklahoma City Police Department shows an armed man hiding behind a backyard shed after an officer fired at him. Police released the video from the April 8 standoff that lasted hours. At about 5:30 p.m., the Oklahoma City Police Department said officers were responding to a domestic disturbance in a neighborhood. When officers arrived, they saw Charles Henry Jr. inside a truck parked on the street, according to an update from Capt. Valerie Littlejohn. Officers attempted to make contact before Henry got out of the truck with a rifle and walked to a nearby residence. Henry pointed the rifle at officers, and one officer discharged his weapon at Henry. Henry was not hit by the gunfire and did not fire his weapon. Henry fled into a neighbor’s backyard and positioned himself behind a shed. Drone video shows where he was hiding. “He was still armed with the rifle and appeared prepared to fire at anyone who approached,” Littlejohn said. All nearby homes were evacuated, and the Oklahoma City Police Department’s tactical unit responded to assist.Eventually, after being confronted with a tactical unit robot, Henry surrendered. Drone video shows the moment he dropped to the ground and was detained by law enforcement. He was booked into the Cleveland County jail and charged with three counts of feloniously pointing a firearm. Nobody was injured during the altercation. The officer who fired his weapon was placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
