Omaha weather: Early week strong storms possible, heavy rain potential
OMAHA, Neb. —
After multiple rounds of storms and heavy rain recently, there are more chances for widespread storms early this week. Omaha’s Weather Leader has deemed Tuesday an impact weather day.
Monday evening, night storm chances
There is a chance for strong storms Monday evening mainly northwest of the Omaha metro. The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk for severe activity from Columbus to West Point to Norfolk.

60-plus mph wind gusts and large hail would be the main threats with any stronger storms. We can’t rule out an isolated tornado as well.
Another round of storms is more likely late Monday night into Tuesday morning. These could bring some strong wind gusts and heavy rain potential by the morning drive Tuesday.
Tuesday storm chances
The morning round of storms Tuesday will likely dictate if we see additional strong to severe storms later in the day. As of Monday morning, the Storm Prediction Center has the entire KETV viewing area in a slight risk zone for severe activity.

If storms linger through the middle of the day, then the severe threat would likely be lower as a cold front approaches in the afternoon. If storms end early Tuesday, then there would be potential for the atmosphere to recharge and a better chance for strong to severe storms in the afternoon and evening.
60-plus mile per hour wind gusts and large hail would be the main threats with any stronger storms. Can’t rule out an isolated tornado as well.
