Eat soup, buy art, and change lives at fundraiser benefitting the Visiting Nurse Association

Art of every genre that you can imagine, every price point that you can imagine,” said VNA President and CEO Carol Patrick, PhD.For over a century, the VNA has been helping remove barriers that stand in the way of health.Part of their mission includes having nurses employed in each homeless shelter operating in the metro.Dr. Patrick says that often looks like providing treatments that may have been neglected due to cost barriers.”When our nurses meet them, often people have gone off of their medications, because they have the choice: ‘Do I pay my rent or do I eat, or do I take my medications?'” said Dr. Patrick.VNA’s annual art and soup fundraiser helps fund its mission to provide healthcare. 100% of the proceeds go towards keeping a VNA nurse in every shelter in the metro.”It costs the shelters nothing to have us there. So, we really depend on the community, both for this event and throughout the year, to make donations to make sure that we keep the nurses in the shelters,” said Dr. Patrick.
