Five Omaha leaders honored with annual ‘Can Do’ awards

The Kids Can Community Center honored five local leaders with its annual “Can Do” awards.There were kids singing and special guest speakers at the luncheon. Organizers said the five people honored this year exhibit a “can do” spirit and are making a difference in the Omaha community.They also help the center’s mission to educate, engage and inspire children of all ages. One of those recipients, Susan Colvin from Bellevue Public Schools, received the “Can Do Volunteer” award. “It’s something you do without expecting any recognition. You just do it because there’s a need, so I’m very humbled and honored to be here,” Susan Colvin, with Bellevue Public Schools, said.This year’s winners also included Carmen Tapio, Tasha Bonner, Dr. Jennifer Lemke, and Jake Shaddy.
