A Florida grandmother remains in the ICU after police say her grandson stabbed her 11 times on Mother’s Day. Emergency responders transported the elderly woman to the hospital following the attack at a home in West Palm Beach. Audio from emergency responders described the injuries, stating, “Rescue 3 is going to have a trauma alert coming by ground reference to a stabbing” and “There’s about seven stab wounds in the torso, in the left shoulder and arm.” Police said the victim and another family member had gone to the store to buy groceries for a Mother’s Day dinner. When they asked her grandson, Keo Nottage, for help, he became angry and reportedly said, “Someone is going to die today.” Shortly after, police said he stabbed his grandmother repeatedly. According to investigators, Nottage also chased his cousin with a knife after the stabbing, prompting the cousin to call for help. Nottage was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. During his first court appearance Monday, he confirmed his identity, saying, “Keo Nottage? Yes, that’s my name. OK, thank you.” When asked about his charges, Nottage said, “What are my charges? Attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.” Deputies removed him from the courtroom after several interruptions during the proceedings. Court records show police have responded to the home in the past for incidents involving Nottage. In a 2021 case, his grandmother told investigators Nottage has mental health struggles and has been held for mental health evaluations in the past.Nottage is being held without bond pending a hearing. Investigators have expressed uncertainty about whether the victim will survive.
