Former Bellevue East teacher pleads guilty to federal child pornography charge
BELLEVUE, Neb. —
A former Bellevue East teacher was convicted in a child pornography case.
David Groth pled guilty to federal child pornography charges during a court appearance Thursday.

In April, prosecutors said Groth used the online messaging platform Kik to obtain 114 child pornography videos. They said he also had 31 images and over 70 videos on his cell phone.
Groth was placed on administrative leave by Bellevue Public Schools in August 2025 and resigned in April 2026, officials said. He was a vocal music teacher at Bellevue East High School.
Omaha Public Schools confirmed in an email that prior to Bellevue East, Groth worked at Burke High School from 2015 to 2024.
