Former Boys Town assistant family teacher held on bond in Omaha child abuse case

OMAHA, Neb. —

A former Boys Town teacher accused in a child abuse case was held on bond Wednesday.

Margo Hoos is charged with two counts of child abuse in the incident.

Two other former family teachers at Boys Town are also accused in the case. Jeffrey and Jennifer Everett, a married couple, are each charged with two counts of felony child abuse.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine told KETV last week that the Everetts were arrested while they were caring for two Boys Town teenagers that were living with them on the Boys Town campus.

Prosecutors said Hoos was the assistant family teacher for the Everetts.

According to prosecutors, Boys Town has conducted multiple internal investigations.

One of the minors reported being sent to a small closet for hours multiple times and was denied the use of a bathroom and no food or drink, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, another minor reported that they were not taken to the hospital and were forced to write multiple essays with a broken hand.

Hoos was held on 10% of $75,000 bond and she is scheduled to appear in court next on Sept. 8.
