Millard West grad returns to Omaha with Toledo Mud Hens

Three years ago, Max Anderson was one of Husker baseball’s biggest stars. Now, after flying through the Detroit Tigers farm system, he’s right back here in Omaha this time with the Toledo Mud Hens. Lauren Michaelson reports from the Millard West grad. Coming home is *** reminder of just how far the dream has come. It’s been almost 3 years since former Husker Max Anderson was drafted in the 2nd round by Detroit. Since then, you could say it’s been *** whirlwind, rapidly climbing through the farm system. I think you learn from *** young age in Nebraska to compartmentalize *** little bit. For the 1st time since leaving Nebraska, Anderson’s back this time as *** visitor, as *** second baseman with the Toledo Mud Hens. Pretty unbelievable. I mean, you Grow up going to games and to be back here and playing in front of all the friends and family, it’s, it’s pretty surreal. Anderson looked right at home, going 5 to 6 at the plate in the series opener on Tuesday, including *** home run against the Storm Chasers. Trying to put on *** good show for the for the hometown fans. I think they probably will, willed *** few hits out of me. All the uncertainty that comes with being in the minor leagues, Max Anderson says he oftentimes thinks about something one of his high school coaches, Darryl Parks, told him. It’s dominate the level you’re at, and Anderson is certainly doing just that. He’s hitting over 400 for the season. You’re always trying to move up, and it’s something that’s so far out of your control that it’s, it’s. The best, the best way to do it is just to not think about it and get caught by surprise. While getting to call up to the big leagues is always the goal, Anderson says being back home is *** reminder of something bigger. When you look out here in Omaha and see all these little kids, um, I think that’s kind of the reason you play for the little kid that is watching these games and wants to be in your situation. I think it’s *** pretty good reminder that um. No matter what happens at the field, you’re living out your dream. In Papillion, Lorne Michaelson, KTV News Watch 7 Sports.
