Former Nebraska senator Ben Sasse opens up to CNN about cancer, faith and death
OMAHA, Neb. —
Former Nebraska senator Ben Sasse reflected on the importance of his faith in an interview with CNN when he was diagnosed with cancer last December.
With just months to live, Sasse said his perspective on life and death has evolved.

“I felt the heaviness of death being terrible and obviously not wanting your wife to go through being widowed or your kids to be orphaned, to lose their dad. But I just felt at peace that death is real,” Sasse told CNN.
Dr. Kelsey Klute with the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center shared with KETV how Sasse has helped a new experimental drug to treat pancreatic cancer gain traction nationally.

“As he said in many of his interviews, his cancer has responded really well,” Klute said.
