The organization serves Dodge, Washington, Saunders, Cuming and Burt counties in Nebraska. It operates a 24/7 crisis line: 402-727-7777. “To bring in all these women to help support us is very touching,” Sampson said. Around 70 women volunteered for the event. “It’s just a really neat experience,” said Karna Dam, one of several RVR Bank employees who volunteered, “especially when you bring this many people together with the right mission in mind.”The event included a makeover for the room where people are trained to support sexual assault victims, the addition of a gate in the fence out back, and a shed built by high school students from Arlington and Wahoo High School to store furniture for survivors. Rebuilding Together Platte Valley East Executive Director Kirk Brown said the timing of the event aligned with Sexual Assault Awareness Month. “The Bridge has lost a lot of funding,” he said, “so we thought it would be appropriate to do a ‘She Builds’ event, an organization that probably 90% of their clients are women.”For Sampson, the event was about more than just renovations. “We’ve been able to partner with new people that have never been here before, that don’t know about our services,” she said. “They can help us spread the word.”Make sure you can always see the latest news, weather, sports and more from KETV NewsWatch 7 on Google search.NAVIGATE: Home | Weather | Local News | National | Sports | Newscasts on demand |
