The first round of the 10th annual Pinnacle Bank Championship saw golfers taking their first steps toward making the weekend at Indian Creek.

OMAHA, Neb. —

The first round of the 10th annual Pinnacle Bank Championship is complete, with local and international talent taking their first steps toward making the weekend at Indian Creek.

Five golfers with Nebraska ties are competing in this year’s field, including Creighton Prep alum Alex Schaake.

Schaake put together a steady opening round, carding just one bogey while finishing 3-under par. A birdie on the ninth hole helped him finish the day tied for 37th.

Nebraska sophomore Caden Mickelson, the lone amateur in the field, endured a tougher opening round but ended it on a high note. Mickelson birdied the 18th hole for his third birdie of the day, finishing 3-over par.

Germany’s Thomas Rosenmueller provided one of the strongest finishes of the day. He sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th green, capping a stretch in which he birdied five of his final six holes.

Rosenmueller finished the opening round at 4-under par, putting him in a tie for 20th heading into the second round.

Robby Shelton set the pace for the field, firing a 9-under 62 to take the first-round lead.

Creighton’s Nate Vontz also put together a strong opening round, shooting a 4-under 67. Scott Gutschewski finished at 2-under, while his son, Luke Gutschewski, opened the tournament at 2-over.
