We’re off the blocks at Omaha Burke Stadium as day one of the NSAA state track and field meet is underway.KETV’s Noah Sacco has all the key storylines from Class A and B action on Wednesday.Eighteen class records have been broken entering the state meet and Class A and B competitors are looking for more.In the Class A boys triple jump, John Becker of Omaha Creighton Prep with the second-best jump entering, the junior grabbed gold. In the 3200 meter relays for Class B girls, four-time defending champ Elkhorn North in front and Jenna Polking anchored it home, capturing a new state-best time for their 5th straight title. For the Class A girls, 3200 meter relays, Papio in the top 3 into the final leg and Alexis Chadek had a strong final kick to separate. The Monarchs won it with a new state-best run. In the Class B boys 400 meter finals, Hayden Daggett of Blair got the gold in 48.49 seconds, and then for the girls, Jaiya Patillo built her legacy. The Bellevue West junior and two-time defending champ dominated the field in 55.62 seconds, earning her third state title in three years.In the 3200 meter race, Class A girls favorite Emily Hegge, who won a cross country title in the fall, claimed another medal on Wednesday.
