Offutt Air Force Base working to identify remains of 26 service members

OMAHA, Neb. —
Rep. Don Bacon joined members of Offutt Air Force Base Monday for an honorable carry ceremony of 26 caskets containing remains recovered from Europe.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency lab at Offutt is now tasked with analyzing the remains in an effort to identify them.

Offutt Air Force Base is home to one of only three DPAA laboratories in the United States. DPAA forensic anthropologists examine and catalog skeletal remains, identify individual bones, and develop biological profiles to help identify U.S. service members who died in past wars.
They also serve as scientific recovery specialists, assisting with excavations at recovery sites around the world.
“Our nation has a sacred obligation to identify our missing personnel & bring long-awaited answers to their families,” said Rep. Don Bacon in a post to social media.
