‘Wiener-take-all’: Dachshund Derby sees adorable talent from some of the metro’s fastest pups
LA VISTA, Neb. —
It was “wiener-take-all” at the 2026 Dachshund Derby in La Vista on Thursday.
Several wiener dogs made a grand entrance into the event before they geared up for the race.

Then they were off, racing to be named the speediest sausage dog in the metro!
The winner, Pablo, was given a gold metal and a sweet treat for their effort.
“He loves whipped cream. So you put, you have whipped cream in front of him. He’s going to run anywhere. He sits on the couch most days and just throw the ball back and forth like we don’t do any training with him,” said Jayden and Cade.
Pablo’s owners said they’re going to celebrate, and they can’t wait until next year’s race.
