House speaker visits Omaha to back Brinker Harding in Nebraska’s 2nd District race
OMAHA, Neb. —
House Speaker Mike Johnson visited Omaha on Saturday morning to show his support for Republican candidate Brinker Harding in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District race, a seat that has alternated between Republicans and Democrats over the past 20 years.
Johnson spoke to voters at Wheatfields near 103rd and Pacific streets, highlighting the significance of the district.

“Nebraska is an important state for the whole country. It’s a small delegation by numbers, but they punch way above their weight limit, and they represent the interest of America,” Johnson said. “This district, the second district of Nebraska, is one of the ones that the pollsters and everyone thinks is a swing district, but we’ve got to win it for the Republican Party, and we’ve got the perfect man to do it.”
Harding is running against Democrat Denise Powell in the race. Earlier in the week, Powell brought in former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to campaign on her behalf.
