Nebraska volleyball’s Harper Murray says she wants to continue to elevate the program and grow the sport

LINCOLN, Neb. —

Nebraska outside hitter Harper Murray is one of the most recognizable faces in all of college volleyball.

The senior had quite the summer, attending events like the ESPYS, even making a big appearance at the World Cup, but the senior said it’s not about those personal accolades and moments. It’s about growing the game and putting Nebraska even more in the spotlight.

“I think it’s really cool to see how much volleyball has grown. I feel like us being able to do those things and go to these events and work with these brands kind of reflects how much work we’ve put on the court. Because without the volleyball skill and without our success as a team, like we wouldn’t have any of that,” Murray said.

“It’s wild, honestly. When you see some of the stuff our players are doing, I can’t believe it, and you know, the World Cup, I think is like one of the biggest ones. Like, you see these celebrities, and then there is Harper. Like, wow! That’s a huge deal for our program for her. But Harper does a phenomenal job of representing the sport, and I think she’s kind of put it on the map. And not just about her. She’s helping a lot of volleyball players,” said Coach Dani Busboom Kelly.

Murray leads a deep outside hitter group that will be key for Nebraska’s quest to win a national championship.

“I’d say it’s really cool to like be in the same environment as Harper and just her showing us what we can do in like four or five years has been really encouraging and impactful,” said freshman outside hitter Jayden Robinson.

Murray is one of four seniors on NU’s roster alongside center Bergen Reilly, libero Laney Choboy, and middle blocker Andi Jackson.

All four seniors have won three Big Ten titles in a row at Nebraska, but they have not won a national championship.

That is fueling them every single day.
