Nebraska’s wide receiver room is shaping up to be one of the strengths of the Huskers’ offense this season.

Nebraska returns its top two pass catchers from last year, while additional talent and depth have created competition throughout the position group.

Husker Radio Network analyst Damon Benning believes the Huskers have several versatile options who can contribute in different ways.

“You can play Carter Nelson in a couple of different places,” Benning said. “You can hand (Nyziah) Hunter the ball on sweeps, you can run RPOs with (Jacory) Barney and Kwazi (Gilmer). You have a huge catch radius and a contested-catch guy in Quinn Clark. And you have Cortez Mills, who is so savvy and competitive and good after the catch. He’s a fantastic route runner.”

Benning called it an exciting group but said the receivers understand they need to improve their production from last season.

The group is also encouraged by Nebraska’s options at quarterback. Anthony Colandrea and TJ Lateef have both been praised for their dual-threat ability and their capacity to extend plays.
