AMBIGUITY AS TO WHAT THE NEXT STEPS ARE. I’M CONFIDENT THAT IF I IF I WEREN’T ABLE TO BE HERE, THAT WE HAVE PEOPLE IN PLACE, THAT THAT CAN SUPPORT THEM AND DO THOSE THINGS. SO I’M NOT SURE WHAT’S GOING TO BE NEEDED OF ME, BUT I JUST KNOW THAT I’M GOING TO TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS WITH THE PEOPLE THAT I CARE ABOUT. THAT’S MY FAMILY AND THIS TEAM. SO THERE ARE A LOT OF WAYS YOU CAN INTERPRET WHAT HE JUST SAID THERE. HONESTLY, I THINK A LOT DEPENDS ON WHAT COMES NEXT. THE STORY IS FAR FROM OVER. WHAT DOES COME NEXT? DOES IT COME FROM THE PATRIOTS OR DOES IT COME FROM THE NFL? WELL, I THINK IT MIGHT COME FROM PAGE SIX OR OTHER FOLKS. THERE YOU GO. I MEAN, IF WE’RE BEING HONEST HERE, RIGHT. IT WENT FROM THIS IS LAUGHABLE. WHICH IS WHAT VRABEL SAID RIGHT TO NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN HE MAKES A STATEMENT ON TUESDAY AND THEN MAKES THAT HE’S GOING TO BE AWAY FROM THE TEAM THIS WEEKEND OR SATURDAY. AND NOW IT’S THIS WEEKEND. SO IT’S IT’S INTERESTING. SO HE MADE THAT STATEMENT AND THEN A REPORTER ASKED HIM AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE, HE SAID, WELL, YOU SAID THIS LAUGHABLE THING AND NOW YOU’RE COMING OUT BEFORE US AND SAYING THIS. AND HE SAID, WELL, I MADE THOSE COMMENTS TO PROTECT MY FAMILY. OKAY. SO BUT THIS RELATIONSHIP SEEMS LIKE IT’S BEEN GOING ON A LONG, LONG TIME. BUT IS, IS THAT HOW DOES THAT IMPACT HIS JOB AS A HEAD FOOTBALL COACH? HOW DOES THAT IMPACT THE DRAFT TONIGHT? WELL, I THINK IF YOU WENT FIVE AND 12 IT WOULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY. HE WENT 14 AND THREE AND HE TOOK THE TEAM TO THE HE TOOK THE TEAM TO THE SUPER BOWL. ANGEL ANGEL SALCEDO WAS IN THE ROOM IN FOXBORO FOR THAT PRESS CONFERENCE AND ANGEL YOU. WE ALL HAVE YOU HAVE TALKED TO A LOT. WHAT DID YOU MAKE OF TONIGHT? WELL, THIS WAS UNIQUE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I’VE SEEN MIKE VRABEL QUITE LIKE THIS ONE. I MEAN, I’VE SEEN HIM. I’VE SEEN HIM MELANCHOLY. I’VE SEEN HIM SOLEMN IN THE PAST. WHEN ANTONIO GIBSON TORE HIS ACL THE DAY AFTER THAT, OBVIOUSLY, WHEN THEY GOT ELIMINATED FROM THE SUPER BOWL, WE ALL SAW HOW MELANCHOLY HE WAS. THIS WAS DIFFERENT. YOU COULD TELL THERE WAS JUST A LEVEL OF SHAKING THAT I’D NEVER SEEN FROM HIM. IT’S USUALLY HE’S USUALLY A MAN THAT EXUDES CONFIDENCE. AND HONESTLY, THERE WAS A BUILT IN TRUST THAT HE HAD BUILT WITH HIS GUYS. HIS GUYS FOLLOWED HIM. THEY DID EXACTLY WHAT HE ASKED THEM BECAUSE HE SET THE EXAMPLE. AND NOW, TO BE HONEST, THAT’S WOBBLED, RIGHT? AS YOU GUYS MENTIONED, HE CALLED THIS WHOLE THING LAUGHABLE ORIGINALLY. AND YES, YES, IT WAS A DEFENSE MECHANISM. THAT’S WHAT HIS RESPONSE WAS TO THAT REPORTER. BUT THE REALITY IS WHEN YOU FLIP FLOP LIKE THAT, NOW THAT TRUST IS WOBBLED AND NOW HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT HE’S GOING TO NEED FOR HIS FAMILY IN THE FUTURE. HE WAS ALSO ASKED IF HE WOULD HAVE TO MISS FUTURE FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES. HE SAID HE DOESN’T KNOW SO FAR. SO TO ME, I MEAN, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HE TRIED TO PREVENT FOR FROM ALL HIS PLAYERS. IT’S A DISTRACTION AND NOW BECOMES WHAT WILL MIKE VRABEL DO? NOT WHAT WILL THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS DO? AND NOW IT HAS LEAKED INTO THE OPERATION OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM. YEAH. BECAUSE HE’S GOING TO BE AWAY FOR FROM AN IMPORTANT DECISION MATTERS. HE HAS THE FINAL SAY ON PERSONNEL. YEAH THAT BECAME VERY CLEAR WHAT HE WANTED TO TAKE THIS JOB RIGHT. BECAUSE HE HAD HE IS THE FINAL SAY. HE IS THE FINAL SAY BECAUSE OTHER TEAMS WERE INTERESTED. RIGHT? RIGHT. SO THAT IS GOING TO PLAY INTO THIS. IT IS NOW A FOOTBALL MATTER. YEAH. TRUE. WELL SAID. OKAY. OUR MARY SALADNA RIGHT NOW IS STANDING BY LIVE AT GILLETTE STADIUM TALKING TO FANS. MARY, CAN YOU HEAR US? ALL RIGHT. I’M HERE. CAN YOU HEAR ME? THERE ARE OTHER TEAM AND THE PERSISTENT DRAMA SURROUNDING HEAD COACH MIKE VRABEL. WE DEFINITELY WANT TO, YOU KNOW, BE IN SUPPORT AND MINDFUL OF THE FAMILY AND THAT IT’S A PRIVATE MATTER THAT IS NO LONGER PRIVATE. THEY GOT TO WORK IT OUT AND IT’S REALLY NONE OF MY BUSINESS. PAGE SIX PUBLISHING NEWLY OBTAINED PHOTOS SHOWING VRABEL APPEARING TO KISS FORMER ATHLETIC REPORTER DIANNA RUSSINI AT A BAR IN NEW YORK CITY SIX YEARS AGO, AND TMZ SPORTS PUBLISHING. THIS PHOTO OF THE TWO AT A MISSISSIPPI CASINO IN 2024. WHEN YOU’RE LIKE A COACH OR SOMEBODY FAMOUS, EVERYTHING BECOMES NEWS, WHICH IS TOUGH. SO IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER TO ME AS A FAN. BUT THE NEW IMAGES FOLLOW THE PHOTOS. EARLIER THIS MONTH, OF THE TWO APPEARING INTIMATE AT A SEDONA HOTEL AT THE TIME, BOTH VRABEL AND ROSSINI DENIED RUMORS OF AN EXTRAMARITAL AFFAIR. CRISIS COMMUNICATION EXPERTS SAY THAT WAS A MISTAKE. IT’S THE FLAT DENIAL, WHICH THEN IS CONTRADICTED BY FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT THE DENIAL WAS FALSE, WHICH MAKES IT ENTIRELY WORSE. IF THE GOAL IS TO MAKE THE STORY GO AWAY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND WITH AS LITTLE DAMAGE AS POSSIBLE, YOU WANT TO BE TIMELY, TRANSPARENT, AUTHENTIC AND ACCOUNTABLE. ALL RIGHT, NOW, LET’S BE HONEST. WE ONLY TALKED TO, YOU KNOW, A HANDFUL OF FANS, BUT THOSE THAT WE DID TO TALK TO SAID THAT IT DOES APPEAR THAT VRABEL IS TRYING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. AND THEY ARE JUST HOPING THAT THIS DISTRACTION CAN BE SORTED
