BAYLESS PARK FROM OUR KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN SKYCAM NETWORK. WELL THIS WEEKEND MOVIE MAGIC IS COMING TO OMAHA WITH A NEW EXHIBIT FEATURING SOME OF DISNEY’S MOST ICONIC COSTUMES FROM THE BIG SCREEN, FROM CINDERELLA TO PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. THE EXHIBIT GIVES FANS A CLOSE UP LOOK AT THE ARTISTRY BEHIND THE CHARACTERS. AUDIENCES KNOW AND LOVE, AND JOINING US LIVE TO TELL US MORE ABOUT IT IS THE EXHIBITION’S MANAGER FOR DISNEY ARCHIVES, KELSEY WILLIAMS. KELSEY, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME. ABSOLUTELY. SO TELL US ABOUT THIS EXHIBITION AND WHAT VISITORS CAN EXPECT WHEN THEY WALK THROUGH THE DOORS. SO OUR EXHIBITION IS HEROES AND VILLAINS, THE ART OF DISNEY COSTUME. WE HAVE 70 COSTUMES ON DISPLAY, AND REALLY, AT ITS CORE, IT’S ABOUT COSTUMING AND HOW COSTUMES ARE CREATED. BUT THEN WE ALSO ADD THE LAYER OF THE THEMING OF HOW COSTUMES ARE INTERPRETED AS HEROES, VILLAINS, AND THE SPACES BETWEEN. SO COOL. WHAT GOES INTO PRESERVING AND TRANSPORTING COSTUMES, LIKE THE ONES THAT HAVE BEEN USED IN MAJOR FILMS? YEAH. SO AT THE WALT DISNEY ARCHIVES, WE’RE CONSTANTLY COLLECTING AND PRESERVING PIECES FROM ALL DIFFERENT DISNEY PROPERTIES AND DIFFERENT FILMS. SO WE HAVE TO USE EXQUISITE AMOUNT OF CARE AND CONDITION REPORTING TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING STAYS PRISTINE, THAT EVERYTHING IS PACKED UP BEAUTIFULLY AND CAREFULLY. AND THEN WHEN WE PUT IT ON DISPLAY, WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS FLUFFED AND VIEWABLE, AS PRESENTABLE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE COSTUMES THAT YOU’VE BEEN ABLE TO. YOU KNOW I DO. I’M A HUGE ENCHANTED FAN. SO IN THE EXHIBIT WE HAVE AMY ADAMS COSTUME AS GISELLE. PRINCE EDWARD IS MY FAVORITE. BORN BY JAMES MARSDEN, SUSAN SARANDON AS NARISSA. AND WE ALSO HAVE CINDERELLA FROM THE 2015 FILM THE BEAUTIFUL BLUE BALL GOWN THAT’S VERY ETHEREAL AND SPARKLY. IT’S STUNNING. SO BEAUTIFUL. WHY DO YOU THINK DISNEY STORYTELLING AND THE COSTUMES TIED TO IT CONTINUES TO CONNECT WITH AUDIENCES ACROSS GENERATIONS? I THINK IT’S BECAUSE DISNEY FILMS HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. THERE’S SOMETHING AT EVERY LEVEL AS DEEP AS YOU WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT. IF YOU JUST WANT TO WATCH A BEAUTIFUL FILM OR A KID WANTS TO FIND A CHARACTER THEY CONNECT WITH, THEY FIND IT IN A LOT OF OUR FILMS, AND THESE COSTUMES ARE SO SPECTACULAR BECAUSE YOU DON’T NECESSARILY NOTICE THOSE BEAUTIFUL FEATURES UNTIL YOU SEE THEM IN PERSON. TALK TO ME ABOUT WALT DISNEY ARCHIVES AND WHAT ALL GOES INTO WHAT YOU GUYS DO. YEAH. SO WE WERE FOUNDED IN 1970 AS THE FIRST ENTERTAINMENT ARCHIVE, AND WE COLLECT AND PRESERVE ALL OF DISNEY HISTORY. SO WHETHER IT’S EARLY DOCUMENTATION FROM WALT AND ROY DISNEY, WHO STARTED THE COMPANY TO MODERN DAY, WE ARE CONSTANTLY TAKING PIECES OF HISTORY TO REALLY PRESERVE IT FOR EITHER EXHIBITION SO WE CAN SHOW THE WORLD AND KIND OF CELEBRATE DIFFERENT DISNEY HISTORY, BUT ALSO FOR RESEARCH, WHETHER IT’S FOR A NEW TELEVISION SHOW OR MOVIE OR SOMEONE’S WRITING A BOOK. SO WE JUST ARE CONSTANTLY GATHERING DISNEY HISTORY TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD. WHAT IS THE VALUE OF PRESERVING DISNEY HISTORY? WHAT’S THE WHY? I THINK IT’S REALLY BECAUSE YOU JUST WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND WHERE WE CAME FROM IN ORDER TO SEE WHERE WE’RE GOING. AND DISNEY’S REALLY SPECIAL BECAUSE WE’RE CONSTANTLY REFLECTING ON OUR PAST. A LOT OF OUR THINGS, WE REALLY VALUE WHERE WE CAME FROM. SO IT’S OKAY. WHAT HAVE WE DONE IN THE PAST? LOOKING AT THAT, STUDYING IT TO THEN KIND OF BUILD TO THE FUTURE. SO, S
